Thank you for your amazing support and for attending our '5 Years in Art Celebration' on August 24th 2024 at the Simi Valley Senior Center MPR. The Student Art Show showcased remarkable talent and celebrated creativity, passion, and artistic growth. This event beautifully highlighted the transformative power of art, connecting and inspiring all who attended.
The Pastel category is divided into four age groups, each with six places. Pastels are a medium consisting of powdered pigment and a binder, typically used to create soft, vibrant artwork.
The Watercolors category is divided into three age groups, each with six places. Watercolors are a painting method in which the paints are made of pigments suspended in a water-based solution, allowing for a range of translucent and luminous effects.
The Pencils category is divided into two age groups, each with six places. Pencil art involves the use of graphite or colored pencils to create detailed and textured drawings, offering a wide range of shading and precision techniques.
The Acrylics category is divided into two age groups, each with six places. Acrylic art utilizes fast-drying paints made of pigment suspended in an acrylic polymer emulsion, known for their versatility and ability to mimic both watercolor and oil paints.
The Oils category features one group with six places. Oil painting employs slow-drying paints composed of pigment particles suspended in drying oils, celebrated for their depth of color and flexibility, allowing artists to build texture and nuanced shades over time.
The Wet Mediums category features one group with six places. Wet mediums in art involve the use of liquid-based materials such as inks, watercolors, and acrylics, which allow for vibrant blending and layering techniques that bring artwork to life with depth and intensity.
The Dry Mediums category features one group with six places. Dry mediums include materials such as pastels, charcoal, and graphite, which are ideal for creating detailed textures and subtle shading without the use of liquid, offering artists a direct and tactile approach to their art.
