"Hi everyone! My name is Carly, proud owner and teacher of The Vivid Canvas Art Studio. Before becoming owner of our awesome, little studio, I had been a teacher here for three years and really grew close to the friendly, artistic community we have established. I have 3 AAs from Moorpark College in Studio Arts, Sociology, and Social adn Behavio I love the challenge in art of creating the illusion of three-dimensional subjects/objects through the use of two-dimensional materials. In particular, I really enjoy working with graphite, and acrylic and oil paint the most. When I'm not teaching or working on my own personal art pieces, I'm usually keeping my crazy dog, Cooper, busy!
It fills my heart with such happiness to teach and share the fascinating experience of art with others, of all ages. Art is necessary in all of our lives', and I am so thrilled that I can provide a comfortable space for anyone, of any age, to create art."
"Hello friends! My name is Andrew and I'm excited to meet and work with you! I've worked here for more than three years now, all while being a student at CSU Channel Islands, studying art and pursuing an MFA in Studio Art; My eventual goal is becoming a college art professor. I've been mostly self-taught, developing my own drawing and painting skills for more than 20 years of my life, and focusing on illustration and painting of the human figure; I especially love teaching figure drawing and anatomy to my students. As a student myself, I've learned so much and grown in my knowledge and ability to draw and paint. Every new thing I learn, I immediately apply to the lessons I teach, adapting to get better results out of the students. Looking forward to working with you!"
"Hello everyone! My name is Dana and I am so delighted to work here as an art instructor. As a child, art was my favorite hobby. I spent my summers drawing and painting. While attending Santa Susana High School, I majored in the Academy of Accelerated Academics and minored in the Academy of Performing Arts with dance. My first official art class was Drawing and Composition I at Moorpark College, and I immediately wanted to pursue a future career in art. I completed my AA Degree in Studio Arts. I have realized that art is not only a creative outlet for personal expression, it is a way to give back and inspire our community. I feel so lucky to be a part of this art studio!"
"Howdy there! My name is Amanda Gonzales and I am certainly happy to be here at Vivid Canvas! I have been in love with anything that has to do with the arts, particularly animation since I was a little kid. My passion is positive representation of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community.
I have multiple degrees including an AA in Fine Arts from Moorpark, an AA in Entertainment Technologies from Santa Monica College, and graduated from San Francisco State University's Cinema/Animation program with honors in Comic-Making in 2018. I also taught beginning and advanced Character Design and Visual Development at an independent school called 'The Animation Academy'.
When I am not creating, you may find me playing videos games like Overwatch, having fun in sessions of D&D with friends, or playing with my dog Axel!"
"I graduated with an B. A. in fine arts from Cal State Northridge. After college, I
worked in the private sector in graphics and publishing for 3M, and packaging
design sales. After working in Graphic Arts for a number of years, I decided I
wanted to go into teaching and earned my Art Credential from Cal State
University at Channel Islands. I taught art at both the middle school level and the
high school level for fifteen years and retired at the end of the 20-21 school year.
Retirement has allowed me to spend much of my time creating art.
Although I enjoy working in all art mediums, I have worked almost exclusively in soft pastel for about five years and enjoy doing mostly landscapes and animals. I still enjoy
teaching and sharing my passion for art with others."
